What an awesome camping location, the Trial harbour campground is small but spectacularly located at the small West Coast settlement of Trial harbour, some 20 kilometres West of the small historic mining town of Zeehan. The camping area is suitable only to tent camping, and to smaller vehicles including campervans and camper trailers. The road into Trial Harbour from Zeehan is small and narrow in parts, and there is a quite steep descent into Trial Harbour itself. The actual camping area is very small and suitable only for a handful of campers. If you have a capable 4WD and are fully self-contained, it is possible to camp along the beach. When you enter the small settlement of Trial Harbour, you will see a number of shack sites. To access the camping area, follow the signs around to the right. To access the beach campsites, turn left and follow the road. Please respect the local homeowners. Please also take extreme care near water, as the seas can be extremely rough in this area. Please also note there are very limited facilities only at the Trial Harbour camping area, being a single pit toilet meaning that all campers will need to be largely self-sufficient. This area can also get very, very windy with heavy and persistent rain also common. If camping in tents, make sure you are fully prepared for all conditions.
Trial Harbour is accessed from the small West Coast town of Zeehan, via Trial Harbour Road (C248) and will take you some 10-15 minute drive. Please note the road is gravel for large parts, is narrow in parts and is shared by other vehicles - please take extreme care on the road and especially if towing a caravan or in a larger campervan.
The only facility at the Trial Harbour campground is a very basic pit toilet, meaning campers will need to be almost completely self-sufficient. There are no shops, no water and no rubbish collection. All sites are non-powered, with many quite exposed to the prevailing winds which can be extreme at this location. Please take extreme care near water, as the seas can be very rough and unpredictable.
