Fabulous campground Deep Creek, Mt William National Park Northeast tip of Tasmania. Camp for up to 4-weeks at low rates, overnight rates are $13 for 2 adults or $50 per week. Additional adults and children are extra. All sites are unpowered, and bookings can’t be made. To camp at Deep Creek, you will need to be largely self-sufficient with the only facility being basic pit toilets. There is bore water, but it is not suitable for drinking. Please do not feed the native wildlife under any circumstances – they are curious and fairly tame and have been known to enter tents looking for food. This is not a big campground but is suited to larger vehicles (with care) including motorhomes, caravans, camper trailers, campervans and tents. The roads in this area are gravel, and mostly narrow. Take extreme care, as the roads can become very slippery after prolonged dry spells, and slippery and muddy after heavy rain. This part of Tasmania is known to be very windy for long periods of the year. Beach and rock fishing is a popular activity at the Deep Creek Campground – be sure to visit the Eddystone Point Lighthouse when you camp at Deep Creek.
Deep Creek is accessed from the Eddystone Point Lighthouse Road, and is located 3-kilometres from the turnoff to Eddystone Point.
Mt William is punctuated by magnificent granite boulders covered with bright orange lichen, long prey white sandy beaches and crystal clear, blue seas. Mt William National Park is located in the far north-east corner of Tassie. Mt William is significant for the conservation of Tasmania's coastal heathlands and dry sclerophyll plants. In Spring, the park comes alive when the park's open grasslands are ablaze with wildflowers, such as the Xanthorrhoea plant, with its grass-like skirt and tall flower spike common at Mt William. There's an amazing range of animals at Mt William National Park including rare Forester kangaroos, wedge tailed eagles, Tasmanian Devils, wombats, echidnas, Tasmanian devils, Bennetts wallabies, reptiles and pademelons.
It is not possible to book a campsite at Deep Creek, all camping is on a first come, first served basis. For enquiries, you can contact the Mt William National Park via St Helens Field Office, PO Box 353, St. Helens TAS 7216. Phone: 03 6387 5510, Fax: 03 6376 7361
